Have a Heart

Postby AlakazamBrain » Mon May 24, 2010 10:09 am

OMNDFH, what's this?!? AB is starting a thread?!? (Yes, I have a little bit of free time right now).

Nintendo and the American Heart Association (AHA) have teamed up to promote healthy active lifestyles. The two hope to work together to inform Americans about the importance of healthy active lifestyles.

All I have to say is how interesting this is. A health organization endorsing a video game company would have been unthinkable about five years ago. Now, it is actually happening. Although, I just see this as the AHA being a bit desperate. I mean, surely there are better methods of staying healthy. The AHA is particularly endorsing Wii Sports Resort and Wii Fit Plus... but I wouldn't say either really gets you moving that much. Wii Fit maybe, but Wii Sports Resort doesn't give you the same fitness as, say, dance, gymnastics, swimming, or running would. Wii Sports Resort is mostly flinging your arms around. Wii Fit does do a bit more, but it is rather light activities and stretching activities.

What about your thoughts on this? Will this lead to a healthier America?

I feel that being healthy comes from the willingness of the person, not from any type of organization.

It wasn't that long... are you asking for a Reader's Digest version? :P

Reader's Digest version: Nintendo and American Heart Association team up to fight heart disease using video games.
